Composite manufacturing

Resin infusion manufacturing

Dry reinforcement is placed in the mold, sealed under vacuum and infused with resin. The layup, vacuum integrity and resin flow are controlled to achieve the target fiber-to-resin ratio, thorough wet-out and repeatable laminate quality.

01Overview

Overview

Resin infusion is our core laminating process. It is efficient and scalable for small to medium production runs, and cleaner than wet layup.

It is ideal for large, curved or custom parts and for carbon sandwich panels with PMI or honeycomb cores. Read our comparison of resin infusion and prepreg in the Engineering Journal.

02Process

Resin Infusion

  1. Step 01

    Layup

Dry carbon, aramid or hybrid fabrics and cores are placed in the prepared mold.

  2. Step 02

    Vacuum bagging

The layup is sealed and checked for vacuum integrity.

  3. Step 03

    Infusion

Resin is drawn through the reinforcement under vacuum for full wet-out.

  4. Step 04

    Cure & demold

Parts are cured, demolded and passed on to trimming.
