Sandwich structures
PMI-core carbon sandwich panels with integrated inserts
Lightweight, rigid panels with reinforced load points, trimmed by waterjet and ready to install.

01Challenge
Structural panels had to be as light and stiff as possible while carrying loads through bolt holes, slots and mechanical joints — points where a lightweight core alone would be crushed.
02Engineering
We selected a PMI foam core for its low density, high shear strength and temperature resistance, defined carbon skins for the load case and placed reinforced inserts at every load-bearing point.
03Manufacturing
Skins, core and inserts were laminated and bonded by vacuum infusion. Each panel was then precision-trimmed by waterjet to its final contour.
04Result
Rigid, vibration-resistant panels with clean, sharp edges and well-distributed loads at the fixing points — ready for installation or further processing.
